Steinbeck Novels: John Steinbeck was a famous author that was known for writing novels about the hard times of migrant farmers during the Great Depression. Living in Salinas, California throughout most of his life, he had experienced the reality of what things were really like and applied that knowledge into his writings. He was special because he wasn't afraid to speak the truth, even if it meant some of his books being banished from several schools and libraries in the United States.
